Maria Ocheja Blog: Do Not Call My Name.
Maria Ocheja Blog: Do Not Call My Name.: Reading through the two main meanings of Respect from the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary; the first one says: a feeling of ad...
Do Not Call My Name.
Respect, here is one thing I am sure that respect is not. It is not bum-licking, honey-dicking or ass-kissing, it is not face-to-face pretence and back stabbing or name calling in the absence of whom the said ‘Respect is due’. Respect is not hyping or washing or massaging of anyone’s ego. Respect is not demanding or gaining bragging rights. Respect has no business with pretence or forming, it exudes genuineness and exudes it all. Respect is two sided; as they always say, it is reciprocal. To cut this long explanation short, it is not an authoritarian or top to bottom ruling system. Read More...

SUNDAY MOTIVATION: BOOK REVIEW.
Bought (@N1 000) from Dominion Bookstore Headquarters, Ota, Ogun State The Ten Commandments of Dating by Ben Young and Dr. Samuel Admas, though written from a religious perspetive, you do not need to be Christian or muslim or any religion at all for the principles outlined in this book to work for you. Why? It is simply because they reflect truth! Most times, because of the difference in the Western and African culture, I would prefer to read anything but the advices lilting from the pages of ‘Oinbo’ fantasy but I dare to say by all standards that this book is different; indeed, it has broken all the rules.... Thinking Out Loud
To whom it may concern,
If you can’t understand to say the least, try and mind your business. When I was a little girl or a teenager; all I wanted to do was to get married ‘real quick’ and have children. At some point when I’d linger in my fantasies, the process seemed easier than the thoughts. #Whew! How ironic!! The number of family and family friends that were settling down at the point of my fantasy were not helping matters either. Their mode of celebration contributed to the expansion of my fantasy; all the fineness and expensivenss going on… Oh Lord! It made it worse. Read More...

THE INTERVIEW
One of the days I went job hunting, I decided to submit my Resume to Studio 24 on 46 Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja; before I graduated from the University, I had always had greed for their government, I will never forget the day that my Big Brother told me that they had a branch in Ikoyi, Lagos- I was jubilating as though manner fell down from heaven, another memorable day I have of Studio 24 was when my Uncle Adejoh told me they had a branch in Kano; my place of birth (Yes I’m Lot’s wife and I will always look back to Kano) on Audu Bako Way. Believe me this time; my family members had begun to suspect that I had some unknown ties with Studio 24 and my Dad warned that he will soon find out.Read more...

Meet Girls 3
Are we in search of real love? Or are we here for the money? Or is it that we do not know sef!!! You have met Gloria and Turrayah right? So I needed to get my facts right about Sophie. I summarily gave an insight as to who Sophie was when I described her as: ‘the Miss Duck’ a diva (female version of a hustler) one who is striving hard and taking care of life and is in search of very true love. Sophie has a boyfriend presently but still in doubt if he is THE ONE or not and this leads her to emit attitudes that chase her adorable semi-hustling boyfriend away sometimes; her attitude drives him nuts from time to time and most times, he finds his way back to her life; sometimes, I believe he is too nice for her (a bit jealous).Read more...

My Salary, My School Fees.
This article is
not faith or religion based but before I go all lengthy, I would love to take
an excerpt from the Holy Book: the Bible. I checked out Jer. 22:13 and it says:
“Woe unto them that buildeth his house by unrighteousness and his chambers by
wrong that useth his neighbour’s services without wages and giveth him not for
his work”. I further looked up the meaning of the word ‘Woe’ from the Longman
Dictionary of Contemporary English to make my idea green of what the word meant
and it gave me four meanings but I will highlight only one which says: ‘literary
great sadness’. Now, various things can cause great sadness: it could be death
in life or progressive business or the loss of anything generally; I mean a
host of diverse things in life could cause great sadness. Mark the word-Great.Read more...

I Want To Leave Nigeria.
At the point I became aware of a retentive memory, I had always prayed during morning devotions that I wanted to be out of Nigeria, just like an up-coming artist sees their place or future above the stars; I saw my future in countries of the West. Leaving Nigeria came before thanking God for giving me life. It sounds terrible now but at that young age, I was right in my every thought. When I watched cartoons and listened to songs from the West, I could only see magic and more paradise and perfection. The staples upon my eyeballs were indeed surreal.Read more...

The Racist Ebola Rap Song.
A friend of mine just sent this to me with so much anger and disgust at the racism and disrespect embedded in this song. Whether this guy is trying to be funny, creative or cute, he needs small beating.
